What is Bryanston?

Bryanston is where the orchestra hold its residential course for a week each Easter. This course is the most important event in the orchestra's calendar, and gives all of us the opportunity to rehearse and perform intensively in an ideal environment. As well as orchestral and ensemble playing, we often have Alexander Technique available and the opportunity to play in a series of informal concerts. There are also opportunities for sports and other leisure activities throughout the seven days, and free time in the afternoons and on alternate evenings for those wishing to study or use the school's recreational facilities. We have an excellent team of experienced house staff headed by Jean O'Reilly, former head teacher of Toynbee School, and her husband Mike, formerly head of physical education and sport for the Royal Navy. The facilities at Bryanston are fantastic, with comfortable accommodation and good food which caters for any dietary requirements. Participation in the course at Bryanston is compulsory for all members of the orchestras.
